1. Definition of Geogrid: Made from polymers like polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, geogrids are either two-dimensional grids or three-dimensional grid screens formed by thermoplastic or molding processes. When utilized in civil engineering, these are known as geogrids.
2. Plastic Geogrid: This type features a square or rectangular polymer mesh and is categorized based on the stretching direction-either unidirectional or bidirectional. After being punched on an extruded polymer plate, usually from polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, the mesh undergoes directional stretching under heated conditions. Unidirectional grids stretch only along the plate length, while bidirectional grids stretch further perpendicular to this direction.
3. Bidirectional Geogrid: Crafted from polymers through extrusion, plate forming, and punching, followed by longitudinal and transverse stretching. This material exhibits substantial tensile strength in both directions. When embedded in soil, it effectively distributes forces, making it ideal for large, permanently loaded foundations.

This process results in a directional linear structure with an elliptical mesh and uniform node strength. 5. Steel-Plastic Geogrid: Comprising high-strength steel wire or fibers treated and extruded with polyethylene and other additives into a composite belt. Its surface features compact rough grains, forming a robust reinforced soil belt.
