1. Definition of Geogrid: A geogrid is a sophisticated grid structure created from polymers such as polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride through thermoplastic or molding techniques. This advanced two-dimensional or three-dimensional grid is utilized extensively in civil engineering applications, offering unparalleled stability and support.
2. Plastic Geogrid: Crafted into a square or rectangular polymer mesh, plastic geogrids are classified based on their stretching direction: unidirectional or bidirectional. The precision process involves punching an extruded polymer plate, typically made from polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, followed by directional stretching under controlled heating. Unidirectional grids are stretched along the plate's length, while bidirectional grids undergo further stretching perpendicular to their initial direction.
3. Two-way Geogrid/Bidirectional Geogrid: Bidirectional geogrids are meticulously manufactured through polymer extrusion, plate processing, and a specialized punching technique, followed by both longitudinal and transverse stretching. These grids exhibit exceptional tensile strength in both directions, offering enhanced load-bearing and dispersal capabilities, making them ideal for large-scale foundations.
