1. Definition of geogrid: Geogrid is crafted using polymers such as polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride, either through thermoplastic processes or molding into a two-dimensional grid or a raised three-dimensional grid structure. When employed in civil engineering projects, this is known as geogrid.
2. Plastic geogrid is a polymer mesh available in square or rectangular shapes. Depending on the stretching direction, it is classified into unidirectional and bidirectional types. Created by punching an extruded polymer sheet (generally polypropylene or HDPE), it undergoes directional stretching under heat. Unidirectional geogrid is stretched along the sheet's length, while bidirectional geogrid is further stretched perpendicular to this length.
3. Two-way geogrid/Bidirectional geogrid: This geogrid is manufactured from polymers through extrusion, sheet formation, and punching, followed by longitudinal and transverse stretching. It exhibits significant tensile strength both longitudinally and transversely, enabling effective load distribution and force diffusion in soil, making it ideal for expansive, permanently loaded foundations.
