1. Geogrid Definition: Crafted from polymers like polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, geogrids are engineered through thermoplastic or molding processes into two-dimensional grids or elevated three-dimensional grid screens. When utilized in civil engineering, they earn the title of geogrid.
2. Plastic Geogrid: Characterized by its square or rectangular polymer mesh design, plastic geogrids are classified into unidirectional and bidirectional stretching types. The mesh is formed by punching an extruded polymer plate, usually made of polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, and then stretched directionally under heat. Unidirectional geogrids are stretched along the plate's length, while bidirectional ones continue stretching perpendicularly.
3. Bidirectional Geogrid: This polymer-based innovation undergoes extrusion, plate formation, and punching, followed by longitudinal and transverse stretching. Boasting significant tensile strength in both directions, it provides exceptional force distribution and support within soil structures, ideal for extensive, permanent load-bearing foundations.
