1. Definition of geogrid: Constructed from polymers such as polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, geogrids are thermoplastic or molded into a two-dimensional grid or a three-dimensional grid screen. When employed in civil engineering projects, these structures are referred to as geogrids.
2. Plastic geogrid: This is a polymer mesh crafted into square or rectangular shapes through either unidirectional or bidirectional stretching. Following extrusion, the polymer plate is punched and then directionally stretched under heat. Unidirectional stretching focuses on the plate's length, whereas bidirectional stretching involves further stretching perpendicularly to its length.
3. Bidirectional geogrid: Utilizing polymer extrusion, plate formation, and a punching process, followed by longitudinal and transverse stretching, this geogrid offers substantial tensile strength in both directions. This robust structure effectively bears and diffuses forces, making it ideal for extensive, permanently bearing foundations.
