1. Definition of geogrid: Crafted from polymers such as polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, geogrids can be two-dimensional grids or three-dimensional grid screens, depending on the molding process. When employed in civil engineering, these innovative materials are termed geogrids due to their strategic role in reinforcing infrastructure.
2. Plastic geogrid: This polymer mesh, available in square or rectangular formations, is discerned by its stretching direction into unidirectional and bidirectional types. Created by punching an extruded polymer plate, most commonly utilizing polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, it undergoes directional stretching under heat. The unidirectional version stretches along the plate's length, while the bidirectional extends this stretch perpendicularly, resulting in enhanced structural integrity.
3. Two-way geogrid/Bidirectional geogrid: This special type of geogrid emerges from a meticulous process of polymer extrusion, plate formation, and punching, followed by both longitudinal and transverse stretching. Its large tensile strength in both directions provides superior load-bearing and diffusion capabilities, making it an ideal choice for large-scale, permanent foundations.
