Step 1 - Prepare the Road Surface

Begin by excavating the roadway to your desired elevation. Ensure a fully compacted subgrade by removing all air pockets and achieving complete soil tightness.

Step 2 - Unroll the Reinforcement Geotextile Fabric

Carefully roll out the geotextile fabric onto the compacted subgrade, ensuring a smooth, wrinkle-free application. Follow overlap instructions provided by your engineer. For projects requiring sewn seams, contact Cherokee for pre-sewn fabrics available in wider widths and competitive pricing.

Step 3 - Seam the Geotextile Fabric

On-site sewing is necessary for this task. Employ a dual thread lock stitch to secure the fabric, preventing any unthreading. Our stitching equipment is available for rent or purchase. Choose from prayer seams, j-seams, or butterfly seams based on engineer recommendations. Here, a j-seam is utilized with dual stitching for enhanced installation integrity.

Step 4 - Apply Aggregate

Spread your aggregate layer to the prescribed thickness, ensuring no direct contact from equipment on the engineered fill. Confirm full compaction before proceeding to the final step.

Step 5 - Lay Asphalt
