1. Definition of geogrid: A geogrid is crafted from polymers such as polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride, formed into a two-dimensional grid or a three-dimensional grid screen of certain height. When utilized in civil engineering, it earns the title of geogrid.
2. Plastic geogrid is a polymer mesh with square or rectangular apertures, available in two types based on stretch direction: unidirectional and bidirectional. Crafted by punching an extruded polymer plate, typically polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, it undergoes directional stretching under heat. Unidirectional geogrids are extended along the plate's length, while bidirectional ones continue to stretch in the perpendicular direction.
3. Two-way geogrid/Bidirectional geogrid: This geogrid is made from polymers through processes including extrusion, plate cutting, and punching, followed by longitudinal and transverse stretching. This results in significant tensile strength in both directions, enhancing load-bearing and diffusion capabilities, making it ideal for large, permanently loaded foundations.

 

<sub>4. The unidirectional geogrid is fabricated from polymers extruded into a thin sheet, then punched to form a regular hole net, followed by longitudinal stretching. This transforms the polymer into a directional linear structure with a consistent, high-strength elliptical mesh. It boasts high tensile integration and tensile modulus, especially in early elongation (2% -5%), offering ideal support and force dispersion in soil. With tensile strength exceeding 150 MPa, it suits various soils, making it a versatile reinforcement material.
5. Steel-plastic geogrid combines high-strength steel wire (or other fibers) with polyethylene (PE) and additives, extruded into a composite high-strength tensile belt. Its rough compact surface grains enhance soil reinforcement. The belt, arranged and welded using advanced techniques, forms a reinforced geogrid for superior soil stabilization.
6. Glass fiber geogrid is a mesh-structured material created from glass fiber through a specific weaving process. Its physical and chemical stability, high strength, modulus, and cold resistance make it exceptional. The special coating enhances its composite properties, boosting wear resistance and shear capacity, ideal for asphalt mixtures.</sub>
