1. Definition of geogrid: Crafted from polymers such as polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride via thermoplastic or molding techniques, these two-dimensional grids or certain-height three-dimensional grid screens are integral to civil engineering projects, collectively known as geogrids.
2. Plastic geogrid is an innovation in polymer mesh technology, available in square or rectangular forms. Depending on the direction of stretching, it is categorized into unidirectional and bidirectional. This process begins with punching an extruded polymer plate, often made of polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, followed by directional stretching under heated conditions. The unidirectional grid is elongated only along the plate's length, while the bidirectional grid undergoes stretching perpendicular to its initial stretch.
3. Two-way geogrid/Bidirectional geogrid: This advanced geogrid is crafted through extrusion, plate making, and punching processes, followed by longitudinal and transverse stretching. Its inherent design offers significant tensile strength in both directions, optimizing force bearing and diffusion within soil, making it ideal for supporting large, permanent foundations.

 

<sub>4. The unidirectional geogrid is engineered from polymer, extruded into a thin sheet with a uniform hole net, then longitudinally stretched. This process transitions the polymer into a directional linear state, forming a long elliptical mesh with high node strength. The resultant structure boasts exceptional tensile embedding and modulus, especially with early tensile strength and tensile modulus. It serves as an excellent force-distributing medium within soil and is a widely acclaimed reinforcement material suitable for diverse soil types, offering tensile strengths greater than 150 Mpa.

Steel-plastic geogrid: Utilizing high-strength steel wires (or other fibers) treated specially and combined with polyethylene (PE) and other additives, this composite tensile belt emerges from an extrusion process. Its surface, featuring rough compaction grains, forms a potent reinforced soil belt. These belts are skillfully arranged vertically and horizontally, or in a sandwich configuration, and bonded through cutting-edge reinforced welding technology, transforming them into formidable reinforced geogrids.
6. Glass fiber geogrid: This material, woven from glass fiber, is a marvel of geotechnical composite innovation. With a base of silicon oxide and other inorganic materials, it boasts unparalleled physical and chemical stability, high strength, high modulus, and excellent resistance to cold and thermal stress. The mesh structure locks and limits aggregate, enhancing asphalt mixture bearing capacity. A specialized surface coating with modified asphalt adds dual benefits, significantly boosting the geogrid's wear resistance and shear strength.</sub>
