1. Definition of geogrid: A geogrid is created from polymers such as polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, fashioned into a two-dimensional grid or a three-dimensional grid with a certain height through thermoplastic or molding processes. When utilized in civil engineering applications, it is termed a geogrid.
2. Plastic geogrid: This is a polymer mesh with either a square or rectangular shape, categorized based on its stretch direction into unidirectional and bidirectional types. It originates from an extruded polymer plate, primarily made from polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, which undergoes directional stretching under heat. The unidirectional variant is stretched along the length, while the bidirectional type is further stretched perpendicularly to the initial direction.
3. Two-way geogrid/Bidirectional geogrid: Crafted from polymer through an intricate process of extrusion, plate, and punching followed by both longitudinal and transverse stretching, this geogrid boasts high tensile strength in both directions. This unique structure provides superior force distribution and is perfectly suited for large-scale, permanently bearing foundations.

Unidirectional geogrid: Formed by extruding polymer into a thin sheet, followed by punching a regular hole network and stretching lengthwise, this geogrid achieves directional linearity with a uniform mesh and high node strength. Its significant tensile properties, especially at early elongation stages (2% - 5%), make it ideal for reinforcing various soil types, offering excellent force bearing and diffusion, with tensile strength surpassing 150 MPa.
5. Steel-plastic geogrid: This innovative material integrates high-strength steel wire (or other fibers) treated and combined with polyethylene (PE) and other additives. The result is a composite high-strength tensile belt with a rough, compacted surface, ideal for soil reinforcement. Through sophisticated welding technology, these belts are arranged and bonded into a robust geogrid that offers exceptional reinforcement capabilities.
6. Glass fiber geogrid: Constructed from glass fiber woven into a mesh structure, this geotechnical composite material is enhanced through specialized coating and treatment processes. Comprising predominantly of silicon oxide, an inorganic compound, it boasts remarkable stability, high strength, high modulus, and exceptional resistance to cold. Its mesh structure maximizes the aggregate lock, optimizing the bearing capacity of asphalt mixtures, and its modified asphalt-coated surface augments wear resistance and shear ability.</sub>
