1. Definition of Geogrid: Crafted from polymers such as polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, geogrids are two-dimensional grids or three-dimensional grid screens produced through thermoplastic or molding processes. When utilized in civil engineering, these are termed geogrids.
2. Plastic Geogrid: This is a polymer mesh available in square or rectangular forms, differentiated by unidirectional and bidirectional stretching methods. Through precision punching on an extruded polymer plate, often polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, the grid undergoes directional stretching under heat. Unidirectional grids stretch along the plate length, while bidirectional grids undergo further stretching perpendicular to the initial direction.
3. Two-way Geogrid/Bidirectional Geogrid: Fabricated from polymers through processes of extrusion, plating, and punching, this geogrid undergoes both longitudinal and transverse stretching. It exhibits substantial tensile strength in both directions, providing enhanced load-bearing and force-diffusion capabilities when embedded in soil, making it ideal for extensive, permanently bearing foundations.

 

<sub>4. Unidirectional Geogrid: Manufactured from polymers, it starts as a thin extruded sheet, then a regular net is punched before undergoing longitudinal stretching. This process realigns the polymer into a directional linear state, forming a uniform, high-strength mesh structure. With exceptional tensile embedment, tensile modulus, and high initial tensile strength (elongation 2%-5%), it serves as the perfect reinforcement material for diverse soil types, boasting tensile strength above 150 Mpa.

Steel-Plastic Geogrid: This innovative product combines high-strength steel wire (or other fibers) with polyethylene (PE) and additives, processed through extrusion into a composite belt with surface roughness. The steel-plastic geogrid excels in reinforcing soils, with its robust design achieved through precise vertical and horizontal arrangements and specialized welding technologies to ensure strong junctions and form a cohesive structure.
6. Glass Fiber Geogrid: Built from glass fiber and crafted through a meticulous weaving process, this geogrid includes a protective coating for enhanced performance. Its core components, silicon oxide and other inorganic materials, grant it remarkable stability, high strength, and modulus, alongside properties like excellent cold resistance and minimal long-term creep. The mesh structure optimizes aggregate locking, boosting the bearing capacity of asphalt mixtures, while the modified asphalt coating enhances wear and shear resistance.</sub>
