1. Definition of Geogrid: A geogrid is a two-dimensional grid or a three-dimensional grid screen crafted through thermoplastic molding of polymers like polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride. When employed in civil engineering applications, this innovative material is aptly termed a geogrid.
2. Plastic Geogrid: This versatile polymer mesh comes in square or rectangular forms, classified by the stretching technique used—unidirectional or bidirectional. Crafted by punching an extruded polymer plate, typically from polypropylene or high-density polyethylene, it undergoes directional stretching under heat. The unidirectional variant is stretched along the plate's length, while the bidirectional type is further stretched perpendicular to its initial length.
3. Two-Way/Bidirectional Geogrid: Engineered from polymer, this geogrid results from an elaborate process of extrusion, plate formation, and punching, followed by longitudinal and transverse stretching.
