1. Definition of geogrid: Crafted from polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, or other polymers, geogrids are thermoplastic or molded two-dimensional grids or three-dimensional grid screens. When utilized in civil engineering, they are referred to as geogrids, offering vital reinforcement.
2. Plastic geogrid features a square or rectangular polymer mesh and comes in unidirectional and bidirectional stretching types. It is created by punching an extruded polymer plate-typically polypropylene or high-density polyethylene-then directionally stretching it under heat. The unidirectional grid stretches along the plate length, while the bidirectional type stretches perpendicularly post-unidirectional stretching.
3. Two-way geogrid/Bidirectional geogrid: This polymer-based material undergoes extrusion, plate formation, and punching, followed by longitudinal and transverse stretching. Its significant tensile strength in both directions enhances force-bearing and diffusion capabilities, making it ideal for extensive, permanently bearing foundations.

 

<sub>4. The unidirectional geogrid is meticulously crafted from polymer, extruded into a thin sheet, then transformed into a regular hole net with longitudinal stretching. This process aligns the polymer into a directional linear state, creating an integrity structure with elongated elliptical mesh and uniform, high-strength nodes. Renowned for its impressive tensile embedding, high early tensile strength (elongation 2%-5%), and modulus, it serves as a widely used reinforcement material across various soil types.
5. Steel-plastic geogrid combines high-strength steel wire or fibers with polyethylene and other additives, transformed into a composite high-strength tensile belt via extrusion. Featuring a rough compaction grain surface, it forms a reinforced soil belt. Through strategic vertical and horizontal arrangements and reinforced bonding welding, it becomes an effective reinforced geogrid.
6. Glass fiber geogrid is an ingeniously designed mesh structure composed of glass fiber, undergoing special weaving and coating processes to enhance durability. With silicon oxide as a key component, it boasts exemplary stability, high strength, modulus, and cold resistance, improving asphalt mixture bearing capacity. The modified asphalt coating enhances its dual composite performance, augmenting wear resistance and shear ability.</sub>
