1. Definition of geogrid: Crafted from polymers like polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, geogrids are either two-dimensional grid structures or three-dimensional grid screens. When applied in civil engineering, they are known as geogrids, offering a robust solution for structural reinforcement.
2. Plastic geogrid is a versatile polymer mesh available in square or rectangular forms, differentiated by unidirectional and bidirectional stretching. Fabricated by punching an extruded polymer plate (primarily polypropylene or HDPE), it undergoes directional stretching under heat. Unidirectional grids stretch along the plate's length, while bidirectional grids are further stretched perpendicularly, enhancing their structural integrity.
3. Two-way geogrid/Bidirectional geogrid: Engineered through extrusion, plate formation, and precise punching, these grids undergo longitudinal and transverse stretching. They boast remarkable tensile strength in both directions, effectively distributing forces and offering robust reinforcement for expansive, permanently bearing foundations.
